A better way to “Be Healthy Rhode Island!”
Hundreds of Rhode Islanders were screened, educated and informed at the first-ever “Be Healthy Rhode Island!” event hosted by CharterCARE Health Partners on November 14, 2015 at Twin River Event Center. Attendees at the health fair stopped by informational booths to “Ask The Doctor” -- including physicians from CharterCARE Medical Associates -- and “Ask The Pharmacist.” They also were screened for body mass index, blood pressure, dermatologic conditions, diabetes, cholesterol, podiatric issues, and glucose. Further information was available on cancer, diabetes, elder care, wound care, weight loss surgery, rehabilitation, behavioral health, sleep disorders, pediatric dentistry, and employment with CharterCARE. Our partners from Rhode Island Medical Imaging, Prospect Provider Group RI, the Department of Health and Ocean State Urgent Care and Primary Care Centers were also available to share important health information.
The program was opened up by Lt. Gov. Dan McKee and CharterCARE CEO Lester Schindel. Speakers on the program included surgical oncologist Dr. Steven Katz, psychiatrist Dr. Scott Haltzman, endocrinologist Dr. Roberto Ortiz, weight loss surgeon Dr. Dieter Pohl, and Richard Gamache, VP/Extended Care, Administrator, Elmhurst Extended Care.
The media sponsor of “Be Healthy Rhode Island!” was WPRI-TV 12 and the event was hosted by Michaela Johnson from WPRI’s “The Rhode Show.” Thank you to everyone who attended to learn more and take control of their own health care!
